Madeline E Workinger

Madeline Elizabeth (Nachreiner) Workinger, 90, of Juniata, died Friday evening at Epworth Manor, Tyrone. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Herman Joseph Nachreiner and Mary Gertrude (Siebert) Nachreiner of Pittsburgh, PA; she was the second born of their ten children. She married John Elwood Workinger, May 5, 1938, in Pittsburgh, PA, where four of their seven children were born. They moved to the Juniata area where their other three children were born. Mrs. Workinger lived most of her life in Altoona as a homemaker; however, after the children had left her home she worked caring for others that needed companionship, help and care. She also worked for the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona, PA, helping with preparing meals. Mrs. Workinger is survived by her seven children, the oldest William (Bill) Workinger and wife Marilyn of Altoona, Robert (Bob) Workinger and wife Eileen of Lewistown, PA, Gerard (Gerry) Workinger and wife Barbara of Edgewood, MD, John Workinger and wife Jeannie of Huntingdon, PA, Mary Workinger Killinger and husband Richard of Altoona, , Mildred (Midge) Workinger Rhodes of Altoona, James(Jim) Workinger and wife Tammy of Tyrone, PA, 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, three siblings; Charles Nachreiner of Evan City, PA, Ruth Clark of Parma, Ohio and Carol Politi of Altoona. Mrs. Workinger was predeceased by her husband John Elwood Workinger and six siblings, Imelda Nachreiner, Gerard Nachreiner, Herman Nachreiner, Mildred Kilchenstein, Delores Astuto, Richard Nachreiner, daughter -in- law Shirley (Hughes) Workinger, grandson-in-law, Edward Mason and one grandson, William Martin Workinger. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm , Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata, where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 7pm Tuesday. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m, Wednesday at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. by Rev. D. Timothy Grimme. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
