Alfred E. "Fred" Peterman, Sr., 72, of Martinsburg, died Monday at his home. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Paul Glenn and Jannette M. (Palmer) Peterman. He is survived by his three children: a daughter Verlynn-Christy (Chris) Smith and her husband Brian of Altoona, a son Bradley E. Peterman and his wife Nannett of Tyrone, a son Alfred E. Peterman, Jr., of Tyrone; three grandsons: Michael Brian Smith, Seth Tyler Smith of Altoona, and Travis Paul Peterman of Tyrone; one sister: Jane King, of Eagle Rock, VA, as well as many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Chipper. He was preceded in death by a brother Paul Glenn Peterman,Jr. Fred retired as a salesperson at Shuster Chrysler after many years. He was a graduate of Altoona High School, and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid horseman, having owned horses all of his life, enjoying many years of trail rides with his friends. Friends will be received from 10-11 AM Monday, June 29, 2009, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., and a memorial service will be held at 11 AM, also at the funeral home.
