Shirley C Clapper

Shirley C. Clapper, age 93, (May 25, 1916 - July 31, 2009) passed away peacefully at Taylor Care Center in Jacksonville, FL. She was the daughter of William L. Madara and Jessie J. McCullough Madara. She married Sheldon D. Clapper who predeceased her in 1984. Born in Altoona, she spent most of her adult life in State College, PA then moved to Jacksonville, FL. Shirley was the loving mother of her son, William Clapper (Peggy) of Jacksonville, FL and her daughter, Donna Smith (Max Robison) of State College, PA. Grandchildren include Tracey Nelson, Suzzanne Clapper, Kelly Price and Ryan Smith and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her nephew William Madara of Altoona. She was preceded in death by her brother Gwin Madara and nephew Dennis McDowell. Friends will be received at 2 PM on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Blair Memorial Cemetery Chapel with services to follow at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Taylor Care Center, 6535 Chester Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32217.
