Helen G Phelan

Helen G Phelan, 96, of Altoona, died Thursday morning, at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. She was born in Hastings, Cambria County, a daughter of the late George W. & Lydia P. (Graffius) Weston. She married James A Phelan who died September 29, 1967. Surviving are seven children, George Snowberger and wife Janice, of Julian, PA, Doris Jarrett and husband Charles of Duncansville, Lydia Phelan of Altoona, Jean Hatfield of Altoona, James Phelan and fiancé Judy Watters of Altoona, Gerald Phelan and wife Jane of Altoona, Allen Phelan of Altoona, 21 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and one brother, Earl Weston of Julian. She was preceded in death by one son, Roy Snowberger, two sisters, Mary Conn, Violet Miller, and one brother, Harold Weston. Mrs. Phelan was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and crafts. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Sunday, August 16, 2009 and 10-11am Monday at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata. A funeral service will be held at 11am Monday at the funeral home with Pastor John Collins, officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
