Thomas L Marshall

Thomas L. Marshall, 62, of Altoona passed away at Altoona Regional Health System Altoona Hospital Campus on Saturday. Beloved husband of Patricia Jackson Marshall, so n of Marjorie J. Marshall and the late Charles R. Marshall; step-father to Nikki and Paul Bowmaster and Bradley Burger; step grandfather to Jordan, Paige, Olivia and Ben Bowmaster. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Marjorie Jackson, several aunts and uncles, cousins, brother in laws and sister in laws, nieces, nephews and many friends, (especially the Homers), all who loved him. Tom was a 1965 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He attended Shippensburg University. He joined the Pennsylvania State Police in 1975 and served as a trooper in the patrol division, criminal investigation, records and identification and fire marshall. He retired in 2002 after 27 years of dedicated service. Prior to joining the state police he served as a police officer for Prince William County Virginia. He was honorable discharged from the United States Air Force where he was a communications specialist. He ws currently employed b James E. Van Zandt Medical Center as a police officer. Tom was an avid golfer and bowler and was a member of Park Hills Country Club, Heritage Palms Golf Club in Ft. Myers, Florida and a former long time member of Sinking Valley Country Club. He was an active member of the Bavarian Aid Society, Swiss Rifle Club, Heidelberg Country Club and the Juniata VFW and the Fraternal Order Of Police. He also served on the Civil Service Commission for the Altoona Fire Department Friends will be received from 1-4 & 6-9pm Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at the Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata, where funeral services will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, with Rev. Betty Landis, officiating. Interment at Alto Reste Park.
