Susan Jane Buchanan

Susan Jane (Aughenbaugh) Buchanan, 58, of Irvona, died Tuesday afternoon at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of Fay (Carrig) Aughenbaugh and the late Reginald Denny Aughenbaugh. She married Archie C. Buchanan, Jr., on November 23, 1970. Surviving are her husband, one son, James B. Buchanan and wife Reagan of East Freedom, two daughters, Jessica R. (Buchanan) Gray and husband Robin of Irvona, Stephanie V. (Buchanan) Ertwine of Altoona, nine grandchildren, James Buchanan, Jr., Paul Buchanan, Brendan Gray, Ethan Gray, Johathan Gray, Hayley Ertwine, Harley Ertwine, Isabella Landrum, Anna Landrum, and one step grandson Isiah Saez and one sister, Nancy Maurer of Plano, TX. She was preceded in death by her father, son in law, Douglas Ertwine and brother in law Craig Maurer. Susan, a homemaker, attended Community Baptist Church, Altoona and was a graduate of Altoona High School. She was a member of the Chairman's Circle of 700 Club. She was loved by manyshe had a loving heart, forgiving spirit and was a peacemaker. Her family considered her a perfect mother and wife. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8pm Friday, September 18, 2009, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 8pm Friday evening with Pastor Mark Mahan, officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
