Ray E. Hoffman, Sr., 77, of Altoona, died Friday morning at his home. Known as Boney to his friends, Ray was born in Altoona, a son of the late Nason and Mary (Treese) Hoffman and on November 16, 1957, in Winchester, VA, he married Rebecca Butterbaugh. Surviving are his wife of more that 51 years, five children, Christine Snyder (Dan) of Bellwood, Tina Diehl (Don) of Duncansville, Ray Hoffman, Jr., (Laura), of Altoona, Karl Hoffman of Altoona, Mary Waterhouse, (Charles) of Altoona, seven grandchildren, Tracey, Jaime, Heather, Kaylee, Arianne, Steven and Jason. Also survived by twin brothers, Robert of Camp Hill and Richard of Altoona, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister Catherine and a brother John (Jack). Ray was a member of the Fourth Street Church of God. He retired as a driver for Ward Trucking after 27 years of service. He was an army veteran of the Korean War. Ray loved going to camp and spending time with his family. He enjoyed collecting miniature scale trucks and pitching horseshoes. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday, September 21, 2009 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata. A funeral service will be held at 11am Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Betty Landis, officiating. Interment at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
