Richard E. "Dick" Shannon Sr., 66, of Altoona went home to be with the Lord Friday at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Charles and Mary (Crawford) Shannon Jr. He married the former Linda Conrad in Winchester, Va., in 1963. Surviving are his wife of more than 46 years, a son, Richard E. Shannon Jr. and Julie, all of Altoona; a daughter, Belinda Louloudis and husband, Nick; granddaughters: Nicole Louloudis and Sasha Shannon; a brother, Bob Shannon and wife, Marylin; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of St. Luke's Epicostal Church. He was a master carpenter for more than 40 years and also was the owner and proprietor of Dick's Cafe. He was a graduate of Altoona Area High School. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, NASCAR, woodworking, carpentry and was a Steelers fan. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at the funeral home, Pastor Richard Barr officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
