James V. Dickman, Sr, 91, of Cumberland Crossings, Carlisle, formerly of Altoona, died Wednesday evening, in Carlisle. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Clifford and Margaret (Kelly) Dickman and married Mary Jane Wagner on November 10, 1941, in Altoona. She preceded him in death on December 14, 1998. Surviving are one son, Barry Dickman of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, two grandsons, Cory Dickman, of Arlington, Texas, James Dickman, III, of Hollidaysburg, three granddaughters, Kelly Dickman and Tracy Dickman, both of Pittsburgh, Lisa Dickman of Hollidaysburg, two great granddaughters, Emily Dickman of Hollidaysburg, Mary Grace Dickman of Arlington, Texas, two brothers, Bernard Dickman of Rebersburg, PA and Ronald Dickman of Duncansville. He was preceded in death by his parents and son James V. Dickman, Jr. He graduated from Altoona Catholic High School and while living in Altoona, He attended St. Marks Catholic Church. Mr. Dickman retired from the United States Army as a Warrant Officer. He also worked as a real estate specialist for PennDot. He was also a member of Mt. Holly Springs American Legion Post #674. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading. Friends will be received from 11-1 pm Friday, December 4, 2009, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM, Friday, December 4, 2009, at the funeral home with Rev. James B. Coveney, officiating. Committal will be at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
