William J. "Bill" Baker, 91, of Altoona, died Thursday evening at his home. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late George and Narcissia (Timlin) Baker. He was twice married, first to Mary Jane O'neal who died March 23, 1992, then on January 28, 2002, he married Eleanor Ruth Lane. Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Betsy Baker of Altoona, seven step-children, Bill Lane and his wife Debbie, Suzanne Elliott and husband Don, Rebecca Delbaggio, David Lane and wife Leilani, Sharon Wackerman, Nancy Mahlman and husband Michael, Kathleen Chilcote, many grandchildren, several great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son William C. Baker and a daughter Susan D. Singer. He was the last surviving relative in his immediate fa mily. Bill retired from Conrail where he was a painter for many years. He was a graduate of Altoona High School and enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing and will be remembered as a hard worker who will be sadly missed. Friends will be received from 3pm until 7pm Monday, December 7, 2009, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 7pm with Rev. Lou HIleman, officiating. Interment at Riverview Cemetery, Leamersville.
