Elsie V Woomer

Elsie V. Woomer, 100, Altoona, died Friday at the Altoona Hospital. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Emanuel Annie (Zook) Horton. She married Andrew G. Woomer November 24, 1926 in Juniata, Altoona, PA. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1997. Surviving are 3 grandsons: Daniel L. Sprankle (Janet), David T. Sprankle and his wife Jonanna, and John J. Sprankle, all of Tyrone; 6 great-grandchildren: Eric L. Sprankle, Nicole L. Kitko, Shannon A. Danneker, Brooke D. Sprankle, Jessica L. Walker, and Freedom S. Sprankle; 4 great great grandchildren: Lynnsae, Noah, Caleb, and Gaven; granddaughter-in-law Sophie Sprankle; 2 nephews: Johnny Reiter and Franky VonGehr, and a special friend Joan Krull. She was preceded in death by a daughter Kathryn Louise Sprankle, and 2 grandsons: Raymond A. and Ronald H. Sprankle; 4 brothers and 3 sisters: Orris, Edward, Raymond, John; Mary Wertz, Ruth VonGehr, and Mae Reiter. Elsie was a homemaker. She was a member of Juniata Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Class in the Corner Sunday School class, as well as the Ladies Missionary Society. She was also a member of AARP, and enjoyed playing golf and watching golf tournaments. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc. (www.maukandyates.com) and from 10 until the 11 AM funeral service Monday, January 25, also at the funeral home. Interment at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation and the Juniata Presbyterian Church.
