Helen Louise Wolfe, 86, of Altoona, died early Tuesday at her home. She was born in Bedford, PA, daughter of the late Thomas and Ruth (Baylets) Brown. She married Thomas Benner on September 13, 1939, in Leesburg, Va. He preceded her in death December 4, 1976. She then married William R. Wolfe on August 15, 1981, in Newport News, VA. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1995. Surviving are three sons: Harry "Mickey" Benner and his wife Margaret of Juniata, Ronald Benner and his wife Gabriella of Chambersburg, PA, and Arthur "Pete" Benner and his wife Susan of Baltimore, MD; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren; two sisters: Anna Weyandt and Janet Sprankle; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dog Misty. She was preceded in death by her son Thomas, three brothers and four sisters. Helen was a homemaker. She had been a member of Fourth Lutheran Church, and was a member of the American Businesswomen's Association. She had also directed the Brown's Boarding Home for many years. She enjoyed soap operas and game shows. Friends will be received from 2-4 PM Friday, February 12, 2010, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 4 PM. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
