Lauver, Raymond C. July 20, 1915-----March 22, 2010OBIT and PICTURE and VETS LOGO Raymond, C. Lauver, 94, went to be with the Lord on Monday, surrounded by loving family and friends. He was born in Altoona, the son of Carl Lehman Lauver and Mary Catherine Chilcoat. He was raised in the home of Edwin T. and mary Catherine (Chilcoat) Burtnett. He married Helen Renetta Hohnson on June 24, 1940, in Altoona. She preceded him in death on April 11, 2001. Surviving are a daughter Ruth Garland; six grandchildren: Glenda Rowland, Debra Wirth, Raymond Neff, Glenn Neff, III, Dana Garland, Danelle Garland; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; oone brother Edwin Burtnett of Boca Raton, FL; and one sister Judith Bolan of Altoona. He was preceded in death by one brother Paul Burtnett, two sisters: Norma Dorman and Helen Burtnett, and one great-grandson A. J. Wirth. Raymond retired from the James E. VanZandt VA Medical Center as Head Electrician in 1975 after 25 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altoona where he taught the men's Bible class, served on the Deacon Board and Missionary Committee of the Church, and spoke at many churches in the area. Raymond was a WW II Veteran serving in the Philippines with the Army Engineer Division. He was honorably discharged in 1946 . Ray will be remembered as a Godly, loving, generous and compassionate man. He will be greatly missed. Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday, March 26, 2010, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, March 27, with Pastor Steve Pearson, officiating. Interment at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
