George J Welsh

George John Welsh, 64, 129 Ridge Road, Williamsburg, lost his battle with cancer at his home Friday afternoon. He was born in Beaver Falls, son of the late Donald H. and Elva Welsh. He married Charlotte E. Welsh on Oct. 15, 1994, at Pleasant Valley Assembly of God, Altoona. Surviving are his wife of Williamsburg; a son, George James Welsh of Altoona; a daughter, Marilyn R. Welsh of East Palestine, Ohio; three granddaughters: Kaitlyn D. Welsh and Cassidy R. Welsh, both of Windber, and Ashley Matthews of East Palestine, Ohio; a grandson, Darik Welsh of East Palestine, Ohio; a brother, Donald Welsh and wife, P.J., of Kansas City, Mo.; and the Richard and Rose Marie Keagy family. Mr. Welsh received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finley, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Air Force. George was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. George enjoyed painting, visual arts, hunting, fishing, gardening and singing in the choir. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Pleasant Valley Assembly of God with a reception following at an announced location. A basket for cards will be at the memorial service. Contributions in George's memory may be made to Pleasant Valley Assembly of God or Home Nursing Agency Hospice.
