Wayne C. Sorge, 83, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday at UPMC Shadyside. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Paul E. and Nora G. (Weld) Sorge. He married Nancy Lea White Dec. 28, 1950, in Altoona. Surviving are his wife of 60 years; two daughters: Lea Ann Weaverling and husband, Thomas, of Huntingdon and Kathy Wertz and husband, Michael, of Altoona; four grandchildren: Rob Harkins and wife, Jennifer, Krystal Brooks and husband, Ryan, Melissa Nedimyer and husband, Vince, and Joshua Wertz; and three great-grandchildren: Gavin, Vince and Leah. Wayne was a graduate of Altoona High School. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was employed with the Pennsylvania Railroad and then Butterick Co. Inc., retiring as a purchasing manager after many years of service. He was a member of Grace Family Bible Church. Wayne loved his church and loved baseball, having played for the Altoona City League for many years. His loves in life were his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he lived for his family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www .maukandyates.com), where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, Pastor James Zaebst officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
