Thomas R. Lilly

Thomas R. Lilly, 69, of Juniata, died Wednesday at his home. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Valentine and Maude (Brown) Lilly. Surviving are sisters: Patricia Verbeek (Lyle) of Glen Dale, MD, Janice McCarthy (Richard) of Baltimore, MD, Mary Tomlinson (James) of Gainesville, VA, Kathleen Szuhaj (Serge) of Red Hill, PA, Paula Miller (Harold) of Altoona, one brother, Richard (Patricia) of Erie. In addition he is survived by 23 nieces and nephews, 30 great nieces and nephews, and 3 great great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by dear friends: Catherine, Rocco and George. Tom was a veteran of the US Army stationed in Germany. He retired from the City of Altoona Police Department after many years service. Tom was an avid reader and history buff. He was a Pittsburgh Steeler and New York Mets fan. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. A funeral mass will be held at 10am Monday, August 16, 2010, at the Cathedral of The Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. Committal will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
