Dolores J. (Jackson) Spiers, 79, of Altoona passed away Friday evening at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, surrounded by her loving family after an extended illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Harry James Jackson and Mary Elizabeth (Tilson) Jackson. Surviving are three daughters: Denise Evangelisto and husband, Gary, of Altoona, Sheila Clowes and husband, Charles, of Altoona, and Renee' Lysohir and husband, Tom, of Hollidaysburg; one sister, Sandra Neal and husband, Pastor Barry, of Tipton; and numerous nieces and nephews. One of the joys of her life was sponsoring Andrei, an orphan in Russia. For the past 15 years she worked as a cashier at Staples and prior to that she was the first female deputy constable in Blair County. She also ran a collection/repossession business for many years. She was a graduate of Altoona High School Class of 1948. She loved spending time with her daughters and family, including her cat, Chelsea. She will be sadly missed by all of her loving family including all of her many "adopted" daughters and every person she touched. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., (www.maukandyates.com) where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a prayer for her and her family would be appreciated.
