Richard Eugene Moore

Richard Eugene Moore, 83, of Juniata, died Wednesday at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born in Juniata, a son of the late Richard J. and Selena (Dufour) Moore. He was preceded in death by one sister, Elsie Mae ( Moore) Richardson. He is survived by wife Doris (Winn) Moore and two children, Richard E. Jr. of Juniata and Gay Anne (Moore) Mertz of New York, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He retired after many years service as a Real Estate Broker with John Hill and Associates and was part owner of the Unpainted Furniture Store in Greenwood. He was a World War II Veteran of the U. S. Army. He served on the Altoona and Blair County Planning Commissions, with two years as Chairman of the County Commission. He was a member of Hiram Masonic Lodge, Altoona Consistory, Jaffa Shrine, Seven Falls Anglers Club of Williamsburg, Logan Valley Presbyterian Church, prior long time member of Juniata Presbyterian Church. Served ten years as Permanent Clerk, Huntingdon Presbytery, Presbyterian Church USA. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8pm Friday, September 24, 2010, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., (www.maukandyates.com) . Funeral services will be held at 12pm, Saturday, at Logan Valley Presbyterian Church, Bellwood with Rev. Kathy Colebank, officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blair County Humane Society or the St. Vincent De Paul Soup Kitchen.
