Jean M. Harkless

Jean M. Harkless, 85, of Altoona Center for Nursing, died Thursday. She was born in Huntingdon, daughter of the late John and Miriam (Irvin) Miller. She married Philip T. Harkless May 19, 1947, in Wolfsburg. She is survived by her husband, Philip; a daughter, Debra Harmon (Jeff) of Stephens City, Va.; a grandson, David J. Harmon of Virginia; a sister, Nancy Doney of Toledo, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. She was a graduate of Altoona High School. Jean was employed as a trust administration officer at Mellon Bank, where she retired in 1986 after many years of service. Jean was a member of Juniata United Methodist Church. She also was a volunteer at Altoona Hospital and a member of Jobal Court. She enjoyed traveling, knitting and spending time with family. Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com), and 10 to the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, with the Rev.
