Daisy B. Barley

Daisy B. Barley, 93, of Roaring Spring died Friday at Nason Hospital. She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late S. Bruce and Gertrude (Claar) Beegle. She married H. Richard Barley on June 15, 1942, in Norfolk, Va. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1995. Surviving are two sons: H. Richard II and wife, Ruth, of Palmyra and James B. and wife, Ginni, of Martinsburg; grandchildren: Heather Ball, and husband, Tim, of Meriden, N.H., Adam Barley and wife, Eva, of Seattle, Jennifer Miller and husband, Curt, of Columbia, Pa., and Jamie Barley and fiancee, Erin Wisor, of Martinsburg; great-grandchildren: Emily, Sarah, Josh and Becca Ball and Ryan Miller; two sisters: Verna Blough and Wilma Smith of Homewood at Martinsburg; two sisters-in-law: Dorothea Nelson of Hollidaysburg and Betty Beegle of Homewood at Martinsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Emmert Beegle in 1980 and Melvin Beegle in 1990, and a sister, Mildred Mauk in 2010. Daisy was a graduate of Cove High School and Altoona School of Commerce. She was employed by Colonial Stores in Norfolk, Va., and the A&P in Altoona. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg, where she was an active member. There will be no viewing, but a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Daisy's honor to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 115 East Penn St., Martinsburg PA 16662. Arrangements are by Mauk and Yates Funeral Home.
