Sheldon V. Buchanan

Sheldon V. "Bucky" Buchanan, 82, of Altoona died Saturday. He was born in Greenwood, son of John and Sarah (Swailes) Buchanan. He married the former Mary J. Russell on Dec. 6, 1963, in Altoona. He is survived by his wife of 47 years; a daughter, Shirley J. Deeters and husband, Carey; a son, Sheldon Buchanan Jr. and wife, Donna; a granddaughter, Ashley Deeters; a grandson, Gregory Buchanan; a daughter, Sarah E. Hillard; a daughter, Twyla L. Whiteman; and a daughter, Shelley M. Pulcino, all of Altoona. He retired as a truck driver with the U.S. mail. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in the European theater and Germany. He loved woodworking and was affectionately called "Mr. Fix It" by his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband and will be sadly missed.
