Catherine E. McIntire

Catherine E. "Katie" McIntire, 96, Juniata, died Saturday evening at Valley View Home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late John and Catherine (Gehl) Schmidhammer. She married Paul McIntire, who preceded her in death. Surviving are twin daughters: Mary Ann Weight and Anna Marie Swanger, both of Altoona; three grandchildren: Theresa, Tim and Tammy; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Reeseman. Katie retired from the Schwarzenbach-Huber Silk Mill, Juniata. She attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Juniata. She was a hardworking woman who loved helping others. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com), where a funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Altoona.
