Lois M Long

Lois M. Long, 81, of Altoona, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday at home surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Born in Altoona, daughter of the late Samuel Beichler and Dorothy Walker Beichler. She married Harry A. Long, Jr., on December 27, 1949 in Altoona at Grace Methodist Church by Rev. Gunder and he preceded her in death June 6, 2006. Surviving are six children, Jennifer Lynn (Joe) of Ashland, Ohio, Beverly Grimminger (Gary) of Altoona, Karen Costanzo (Mark) of Delta Junction, Alaska, Sharon Nale of Altoona, Harry A. III, of Altoona, Samuel (Melinda) of Leechburg, Pa., Grandchildren, Gary Grimminger, Jr. (Heather), Joshua Lynn (Wendy), Jeremy Lynn (Anne), Justin Lynn, Maggie Shawley(John), Chelsea Nale, Jenna Long, Stacey Hollingsworth(Joshua), Olivia Long, CoreyLong and great grandchildren, Brendon Grimminger, Anneliese Lynn and Jennifer and Christopher Shawley. Lois was a life-time member of Grace United Methodist Church and most recently Wehnwood United Methodist Church where she always sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and Bible School, and held multiple positions in the church organization. She graduated in 1947 from Altoona High School and before marriage worked for Bell Telephone. After raising her family she worked for Gable and Pittsburgh Hearing Aid Company until retirement. Lois enjoyed most her church activities and family. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, gardening, the ocean and traveling. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8pm Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., and from 10-11am Wednesday at Wehnwood United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday with Rev. Evelyn Madison, officiating. Interment at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Home Nursing Agency, Hospice Unit, 201 Chestnut Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601.
