Norman C. Hoffman

Norman C. Hoffman, 101, Elmcroft of Altoona, formerly of Altoona, died Sunday at Elmcroft. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Samuel G. and Lydie B. (Glunt) Hoffman. He married Violet D. Moist in 1927 in Cumberland, Md., and she died Feb. 10, 2000. Surviving are two daughters: Doris Falk of Altoona and Marilyn Behers of Albany, N.Y.; four grandchildren: Donald McConahy and Amos Ferguson, both of Altoona, Robert Behers in New York and Norma Atkinson in Connecticut; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Harpster of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews. Norman was a police officer with the Pennsylvania Railroad, retiring after 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. A funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com).
