Mae G. Long Aug. 8, 1912 - Oct. 15, 2010 October 17, 2010 Mae G. Long, 98, a resident at Garvey Manor for eight years, passed away on Friday at the home. She was born in Patton, daughter of the late Rose (Rhoa) and William Gauntner. She wed Herman A. Long on Nov. 27, 1930, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Ashville. He preceded her in death on July 13, 2001. She is survived by three sons: John A. (Marie), William H. (Barbara), and Ernest V. (Donna); a daughter, Patricia, all of Altoona; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Charles of Hastings and James of Ebensburg; and two sisters: Stella Shortencarrier of Elmora and Emma Hall of Juniata. She was preceded in death by a son, Herman J.; three sisters, two brothers; and two granddaughters. Mrs. Long was a retired LPN. She was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Church. Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., (www.maukandyates.com) Juniata. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Church. Committal will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family requests donations be given to Garvey Manor or Masses in Mae's honor.
