He also served as a volunteer at Altoona Hospital for more than 20 years. Guy was an avid fan of AASD athletics and band programs, where he was lovingly known as "Gee." While in the employ of the school district, he and his wife opened their hearts and home to exchange students from Japan and Uruguay, as well as several Altoona Curve players. He was a former member of Grace Bible Church and a current member of Hillside Community Church, where he served as an Awana leader and deacon. His greatest joys were his grandchildren and working with young people, whom he touched with his wit and wisdom. Guy will be deeply missed by those who knew him as husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at Hillside Community Church (formerly Olivet Baptist Church), Bellwood, by Pastor Ken Beichler. At the family's request, donations in Guy's memory may be made to Hillside Community Church or the Altoona Area School District band program.
