Blocher, Martha J. "Jean" 8-27-1924-----11-11-2010 Martha J. "Jean" Blocher, 86, of Golden Living Center, Hillview, died Thursday afternoon at the home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the lateKeagy C. and Meda M. (Robb) Replogle. She married Emil A. Blocher on February 18, 1947, in Altoona. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1991. Surviving are three children: Linda L. Strength and husband Gary of Summerland, British Columbia, Canada, Rebecca J. Twine and her husband Thomas of Altoona, and James E. Blocher and his wife Therese of Altoona; 6 grandchildren: Nathan and Matthew Strength, Amanda, Erin, Kimberly and Tara Blocher; 2 great-grandchildren: Lauren and Jacob, as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son and daughter in law Thomas K. and Diane L. Blocher, one great-granddaughter Summer Elizabeth Blocher, as well as all of her siblings. Jean was a homemaker. She was an active and involved member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the former president of Keystone Garden Blub from the late 70's through early 80's, and worked with her husband Emil at the family business Blocher's Meats. She was a volunteer at the James E. VanZandt VA Medical Center from 1982 to 1995 and received the VA 2500 Hour Award. She donated her hours to the Order of the Eastern Star, of which she was a member. She was much loved by her family and will be greatly missed. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Monday, November 15, 2010, with Pastor Paula Schmidt, officiating. Interment at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, or to the Hummingbird Program at Penn State University Hershey Medical Center in care of the Office of University Development.
