Clair V. Hileman, 87, Altoona, died Tuesday morning at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born in Pittsburgh, son of the late Thomas and Martha (Shaw) Hileman. He married Arlene June Dunn on Jan. 17, 1942. Surviving are his wife of almost 69 years; four children: Tom Hileman and wife, Susan, Tim Hileman and wife, Jenny, Pastor Lou Hileman and wife, Teri, and Beverly Butler and husband, Charlie, all of Altoona; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jay; and two sisters: Mary and Bonita. Clair was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a driver for Ward Trucking Corp. and retired after 33 years of service. He was a member of Grace Bible Church, Hollidaysburg. While in his 20s, Clair trusted Christ as his personal Savior and enjoyed serving his Lord over his lifetime, and he is now home at last with his Savior. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports, especially boxing, and he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports as well. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com), and 9 to the 10 a.m. funeral service Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Grace Bible Church, Pastor Lou Hileman officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
