Doris M Forney

Doris M. (Skipper) Forney, fondly known as "Skip", died Thursday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late William C. and Fayetta B. (Miller) Skipper. She is survived by her children: Sondra Ocker and her husband Kevin, Vickie Casteel, Linda Heiss and husband Joseph, all of Altoona; 7 grandchildren: Stacey Giordano (John), Kendra Wolfe (Doug), Jennifer Crownover, John Casteel, Jr.(Mindy), Duane Casteel (Jennifer), Crystal Heiss, and Richele Heiss (Larry); 13 great grandchildren; two nieces: Carol Phelan and Debbie Himes, one nephew-Jamie Skipper; a sister in law Ann Ciambotti; close friends: Tom Lattieri, David Crownover, Autumn Casteel, Duane Forney and his wife Carol, Ruben Vega, lifetime friends Joan Shields and Fleda Kennedy, as well as many others. She was preceded in death by a brother and sister and law Wilmer Skipper and Joan Skipper, one great grandson Peyton, her live in companion Jim Caldwell, a brother in law Nazz Ciambotti, and friend Terry Goodman. Doris retired from Wissinger's Restaurants as a cook after almost 50 years. She also had been a senior companion with Blair Senior Services for a number of years. She was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, Swiss Rifle Club, Unter-Uns, and the Heidelburg Country Club. She enjoyed bowling, roller skating, cooking, the "country store", and will be remembered as a lover of life and her family. A memorial services will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, January 24, 2011, at the Greenwood Fire Hall, with a reception to follow. The service will be lead by Pastor Kathy Colebank.
