Dalton D. Dobbins

Dalton D. Dobbins, 76, Altoona, died Thursday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Charles R. and Ruth (Krouse) Dobbins. He married Barbara Jean Robertson on Sept. 16, 1955, in Winchester, Va. Surviving are his wife of 55 years; a daughter, Brenda Berry and husband, James, of Altoona; three grandchildren: Dalton Dobbins III, Zachary Dobbins and Alizabeth Berry, all of Altoona; two sisters: Gail Ross of Altoona and Beryl Houck of Duncansville; and two brothers: Charles Dobbins and Ream Douglas, both of Altoona. He was preceded in death by a son, Dalton Dobbins II. Dalton was an active member of Pleasant Valley Assembly of God. He retired from Veeder-Root Co. and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was the foremost fan of the Dalton Dobbins II Sunday Softball League, sponsored by the Bavarian Aid Society. Friends will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Pleasant Valley Assembly of God, followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Balzano officiating. Private interment will be at Blair Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com).
