Nellie M. McAleer, 92, Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, died Wednesday at the Village. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Clyde (Short) Brown. She married Charles A. McAleer II in 1939 in Altoona, and he died in 1983. Surviving are four children: Virginia L. Bartshe and husband, Phil, of Ann Arbor, Mich., Dennis J. of Pittsburgh, Patricia J. Farrell and husband, A. Thomas Farrell, of Hollidaysburg and David P. of Altoona; five grandchildren: Meghan F. Irwin, T. Corydon Farrell, Lindsey A. Farrell, Charles A. McAleer IV and Ashley N. McAleer; and two great-grandchildren: Courtney Irwin and Skylar Irwin. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles A. III; and a daughter, Mary Ann. Nellie was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com). A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
