Terry Lee Smeal, 66, Altoona, died early Wednesday morning at his residence. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Augustine B. and Sarah Etta (McGinnis) Smeal. He married Bonnie Jean Lear in 1969 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, and she also died March 2, 2011. Surviving are two sons: Christian T. and wife, Amanda, and Corey L. and fiancee, Dara Moore, all of Altoona; six grandchildren: Jade, Destrie, Shelby, Heston, Coltan and Braven; and a sister, Nancy Smeal of Altoona. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Ralph, Wayne and Bill; and a sister, Lucille Fawks. Terry was a graduate of Altoona High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He retired from PPG after 36 years of service. He attended the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Terry collected PPG memorabilia and was an avid Penn State fan. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a giving person, supporting his family. Friends will be received from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com). A funeral liturgy outside of Mass will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
