Robert J. "Fuzz" Fasick, 89, of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home died Friday at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Lewis B. and Mabel (George) Fasick. He was raised by his father and stepmother, Stella Cecelia (Noonan) Fasick, after the death of his mother when he was a child. He married Emma F. Reed on Nov. 27, 1948, in Winchester, Va. She preceded him in death on Oct. 17, 2002. Surviving are two daughters: Brenda Kensinger and husband, Ken, and Patricia Fasick, both of Altoona; a son, John Fasick and wife, Diana, of Roaring Spring; four grandchildren: Adam Kensinger, Lee Kensinger, Stacey Kensinger and Elliot Fasick; two great-granddaughters; a sister, Janet (Fasick) Sell of Altoona; a brother, James Fasick of Ebensburg; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rosemary (Fasick) Shaffer. "Fuzz" was 1942 graduate of Altoona High School. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, having served in Northern France, Southern France, Rhineland, Northern Apennines and the PO Valley Air Offensive Balkans. His decorations included a Presidential Unit Citation and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with seven bronze stars. He retired as a brake conductor at Conrail after many years of service. He was a member of the United Transportation Union and the Bavarian Aid Society and was a life member of the Juniata VFW Post 8685. Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., (www.maukandyates.com). A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
