Clair Leroy Riggleman, 85, Martinsburg, died Tuesday morning at Golden LivingCenterHillview. He was born in Tyrone, son of the late Charles Dean and Clarabell (Ewing) Riggleman. He was twice married, first to Fannie McEwen, who preceded him in death Oct. 9, 1989, then to Dolores Vickers on Dec. 27, 1991, in Winchester, Va. Surviving are his wife; eight children: Dona Lightner (Dick) of Huntingdon, Ruth Steel (Terry) of Altoona, Renee Woomer, Daniel, Kenny and Clara Riggleman and Jeanette Albert, all of Tyrone, and Martha Riggleman of Middleburg; and seven stepchildren: Jack Stuart (Judy) of Warriors Mark, Marjorie Davies in Ohio, Spring Aikens (Don) in Florida, Cindy Pletcher of Martinsburg, Pam Gray (Doug) of Bellwood, Paula Gardner in North Carolina and Paul Pletcher (Charlotte) of Osterburg. He is also survived by 37 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Alvin Riggleman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by eight siblings. Clair was a graduate of Tyrone High School. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1943-46 and the U.S. Air Force from 1949-52. He was employed as a truck driver for Thompson Machine Co. and previously had worked in the maintenance department of Penn State University for 12 years and as a truck driver for Juniata Meat Packing Co. He was a member of the Tyrone VFW. Clair enjoyed growing flowers, feeding the birds, hunting and fishing. He loved the Lord and loved his dog, Ginger. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com). A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2011, at Hillside Community Church (formerly Olivet Baptist Church). Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
