Gerald L Slemmer

Gerald L. Slemmer, 76, Altoona, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at ARHS Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Jesse and Martha Jane (Johnson) Slemmer. He married Dorothy Gority, who preceded him in death in 1974. He then married Dorothy Eckhart, who survives him. Surviving are his wife, two children-Patrice Winston (Gerald) of Mooresville, NC., and Jody Slemmer of Ashville, PA, one stepson-Paul Steak of Chester, Va, as well as 7 grandchildren. Gerald was an Altoona High School graduate. He retired from the shipping department from Butterick after 41 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast, and enjoyed bowling, hunting, and especially spending time with his family. Friends will be received from 2-4 PM Friday, May 6, 2011, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 4 PM, with Rev. Elizabeth Hess, officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
