Ruth O. Coleman, 93, Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone, went home to be with her Lord Monday at Tyrone Hospital. She was born in Altoona, daughter of Arlington and Cora (Sharp) Woodring. She married Eugene M. Coleman on Nov. 28, 1940, in Altoona, and he died May 21, 2003. Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl Johnson of Altoona; a son, Gary of Cincinnati; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Audrey Lansdowne of Delavan, Wis. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Helen Rudasill, Gladys Love and Norma Weir; a son-in-law, John; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara. Ruth had worked at Saf-T-Bak for 10 years as a flap turner, then was a homemaker. She was a member of First Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. She was also active there as a youth leader and was a member of the Upper Room class for many years. She enjoyed sewing and crafts. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com), and from 9:30 until the 10 a.m. funeral service Saturday, July 9, 2011, at First Church of Christ, Pastor Brad Windlan officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
