Dennis C. Wisor, 60, Altoona, died Tuesday morning at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born in Philipsburg, son of Hazel (Dillon) Wisor Culp and the late Floyd Wisor. He married Karen L. Moore on Dec. 15, 1972, in Winchester, Va. Surviving are his wife; three children: Dennis and wife, Kristen, of Altoona and their children, Kylee and Eli, Amy Graham and husband, Ryan, of Altoona and David and wife, Heather, of Altoona, and their children, Laighla, Delainey, Alecea and Lilyahna; honorary grandchildren: Lundyn and Irelynn Treese; his mother; two sisters: Carol Smith and husband, Robert, of Philipsburg and Jodi Johnson in Tennessee; two brothers-in-law: Robert Moore of Altoona and Walter Renaud of Clearfield; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Dennis was a graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola High School and a graduate of Mount Aloysius College with honors. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1971-77. He worked as a coal miner for 25 years with Beth Energy Mine 33, Ebensburg, before returning to college. He retired in 1998 as a hospital laboratory technician with J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Dennis was a member of Fourth Street Church of God and also belonged to the United Mine Workers of America. He enjoyed spending time with family, woodworking, computers, flower gardening, making candles, hunting, fishing and golf. He lived by the saying, "While I breathe, I hope." Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, July 29, 2011, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com), Pastor Jon R.
