Leonard L. LeCrone, 78, of Altoona, died Wednesday evening at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born in Altoona a son of the late Harold E. and Florence Maude (Thomas) LeCrone. He married Gerda E. Hill who survives along with two sons, Jeffrey L. LeCrone of Williamsport, Joseph B. LeCrone of Montoursville, three granddaughters, Alexandra, Catherine and Emilia LeCrone and one sister, Martha Jane Gunder. He was preceded in death by sister Helen Sterett and brother, Fred T. LeCrone, Sr. Following graduation from Altoona High School he spent two years in college earning an Associates Degree. He also served in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from Peoples Natural Gas Company where he worked for many years. He was a fifty year member of the Antique Automobile Club of America where he held several positions over the years. He was also very active and was a board member of the Swigart Museum in Huntingdon. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8pm Monday, August 15, 2011, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., (www.maukandyates.com) and from 10-11am Tuesday at Mardorf United Methodist Church on Juniata Gap Road. A funeral service will be held at 11am Tuesday at the Mardorf United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Johnson, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mardorf United Methodist Church or to the Swigart Museum, 12031 William Penn Highway, Huntingdon, PA 16652.
