David M. Mattern, 65, Altoona, died Friday at home. He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of Harry and Winifred (Green) Mattern. He married Peggy Bucher on Nov. 30, 1969, in Altoona, and she died in 2009. Surviving are three daughters: Christine Curran and husband, Patrick, of Great Mills, Md., Teresa Green and husband, Steven, of Bellwood and Jessica White and husband, Jason, of Altoona; three grandchildren: Alexis and Evan Curran and Charlotte White; six siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Susan; and three brothers, Ron, Joe and Ed. David was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He was employed by Pepsi and then Conrail/Norfolk Southern for many years. He enjoyed his automobiles, classic cars, his dogs, Taco and Draven, and the summer concerts in downtown Altoona. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com), where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011. Interment will be in Blair Memorial Park.
