Alvin K. Hagerty, 85, Altoona, died Wednesday at his residence. He was born in Altoona, son of Alvin L. and Dorothy (Harpster) Hagerty. Surviving are six children: Debra of Lancaster, Darlene England of Lakewood, Colo., Barbara Kimberling and husband, Sam, and William L. and wife, Terry, all of Altoona, Donald E. of Dysart and Mark of Johnstown; and three grandchildren: William Hagerty Jr., Krista McCulley and Todd Hagerty. Alvin was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in both theaters, and he received two Bronze Stars. He retired from Conrail after 31 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and target shooting. Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com). Interment will be at Antis Cemetery.
