Evie C. Steinbauer, 96, Golden LivingCenter-Hillview, died peacefully Tuesday, All Saints' Day, with her family at her side. She was born in Altoona, daughter of Joseph Leo and Anna Marie (Moyer) Himes. She married Frank X. Steinbauer on Dec. 27, 1939, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellwood, and he preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Norman and wife, Joyce, of Riggles Gap; two daughters: Evie Speck and husband, Michael, of Bellwood and Donna McCulloch of Altoona; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children: Francis Leo and Carol Ann Steinbauer; two sisters: G. Marie Smith and Florence Collins; and two brothers: Paul and Anthony Himes. She was the last family member of her generation. Evie was a homemaker and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She enjoyed working on the farm and gardening. She loved her farm animals, canning, baking and cooking and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com), where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church by Monsignor Michael Servinsky. Committal will be in Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
