July 11, 1939 - Nov. 3, 2011 Ronald Eugene McCormick Sr., 72, Davidson, N.C., formerly of Altoona, died peacefully at his home Thursday after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Greenwood, son of the late C.A. and Katherine (Peightal) McCormick. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Lindsay (Little); two sons: Ronald Jr. and wife, Elaine, and Charles and wife, Deborah, all of Davidson, N.C.; a daughter, Lori Soult and husband, Dan, of Concord, N.C.; a stepson, Art Leighty; two grandchildren: Danielle Soult and Darick Leighty; and several other loving relatives. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley (Himes); a brother, Bob; and three stepchildren. Ronald attended Altoona High School and worked as a telephone lineman for PennLine Service and S&S until he retired in 1997. He moved with his wife to North Carolina to be near his children. He enjoyed hunting, racing, auctions and motorcycles. Ronald was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, and 9 until the 10 a.m. funeral service Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com). Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery.
