Frederick E. Kyper, 77, Altoona, died early Friday morning at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. He was born in Altoona, son of the late John A. and Jennie E. (Bair) Kyper. He married Darlene R. Reidenbaugh on Feb. 19, 1954, in Altoona. Surviving are his wife; two children: Dana D. Chestney (Jeffrey) of Altoona and Steve M. Kyper (Susan) of Ebensburg; five grandchildren: Jeffrey Chestney II, Jennifer Chestney, Scott Kyper (Jennifer), Megan Kyper and Bill Kyper; two great-grandchildren: Brady and Mason Kyper; a sister, Ann L. McMearty; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jarrett A. Chestney; as well as three brothers: Richard Kyper, James Kyper and Donald Kyper; and his sister, Doris. Fred retired as a foreman from People's Natural Gas Co. after 37 years of service. He was a graduate of Altoona High School and attended Penn State University. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and formerly had been a member of Logan Lodge, F&AM. He enjoyed hunting and going to his camp. He was very proud of his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. Services for Mr. Kyper are private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Aughwick-Germany Valley Cemetery, Shirleysburg, Pa. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, (www.maukandyates.com).
