E. Virginia Swartz, 85, formerly of Pleasant Valley Boulevard, Bellemead, died Saturday afternoon at Valley View Home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Clarence and Dessie (Nail) Miller. She married Paul A. Swartz on Dec. 24, 1958, in Riggles Gap, and he preceded her in death on April 26, 2002. Surviving are a son, Rodney L. of Pittsburgh; a sister, Mona Miller of The Village at Morrisons Cove; and four nieces: Gloria VanTries of Altoona, Carol Claar of Bradenton, Fla., Ruth VanTries of Denver, Colo., and Donna Replogle of Juniata. She was preceded in death by a sister, Erma VanTries. Virginia retired as a self-employed hairdresser. She was a member of Bellwood Church of the Brethren and enjoyed being a part of the Antique Automobile Club of America. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com). A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, the Rev. John Winesickle officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
