Brenda J. Shelow, 46, Altoona, died peacefully Thursday morning with her family at her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Altoona, daughter of Wayne B. Steele and Alice F. Witt. She married Michael Shelow on March 8, 1986, at First Church of Christ, Altoona. Surviving are her husband; three daughters: Staci L. and fiancé, Chad Gallaher, of Curwensville and Casey D. and Amanda J., both of Altoona; four grandchildren: Alexis M. Gallaher of Curwensville and Layla M. Shelow, Avery M. Shelow and Madilynn J. Shelow, all of Altoona; her father, Wayne B. Steele and wife, Jeanie, of Altoona; her mother, Alice F. Witt and husband, Jerry, of Altoona; three brothers: James and Vernon Steele, both of Altoona, and Mark Steele of Lynnwood, Ill.; three sisters: Tammy Butterbaugh of Bellwood, Pauline Wood of Richland and Aimee Steele of Altoona; as well as her close friend, Debbie Yarnell and husband, Shawn, of Bellwood. Brenda was a graduate of Altoona High School and worked at Sam's Club. She was a member of First Church of Christ. She enjoyed crafts, camping with her nephews and spending time with her family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at First Church of Christ, 113 Good Shepherd Road, Altoona, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
