Joanne L Leighty (Baker)

Joanne L. "Joey" (Baker) Leighty, 62, Altoona, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Robert and Betty (Hand) Baker. She married Harold A. Leighty on Aug. 22, 1998, in Woodstock, Va., and he died Oct. 4, 2010. Surviving are four siblings: Bonnie Plowman and husband, Herb, of Woodstock, Va., Nancy Kiefer and husband, Stanley, of Coaldale, Robert Baker and wife, Cindy, of Bensalem and Ronald Baker and wife, Donna, of Eden; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joey was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, animals and gardening. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com). At the request of the deceased, there will be no formal service. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
