Catherine V Peterman

Catherine V. Peterman, 89, Altoona, died Thursday evening at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Altoona, daughter of James E. and Helen (Williams) Strawmyer. She married Harold L. Peterman on Dec. 29, 1945, and he died April 5, 2003. Surviving are four children: James G. (Lynette) of Duncansville and Harold W. (Marijo), Bonita C. Taylor and Lanny C. and fiancee, Mary Ann, all of Altoona; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anita Feathers of Osterburg. Catherine was a 1941 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, where she was active in ministry and sang in the choir. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, flowers, especially African violets, reading, crocheting, Scrabble and spending time with her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com), followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home Nursing Agency.
