John E. Shaffer, 65, a lifelong resident of Sinking Valley, died late Thursday at his residence. He was born in Altoona, son of Edgar Harry Shaffer and the late Martha (Hufford) Shaffer. He married Darlene Brosius on Feb. 24, 1990. Surviving are his wife and numerous cousins. John was a 1966 graduate of Altoona Area High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
