Doris J. Burkholder, 80, Juniata, was born on Groundhog Day and passed away on Easter at Altoona Regional. She was born in Altoona, daughter of Edgar and Evelyn (Keith) Alexander. She married Paul Z. Burkholder, and he died May 11, 2009. Surviving are three children: Keith (Alice) of Drake, Colo., Brian (Annette Romani) of Altoona and Dena Chaplin (Joseph) of Altoona; a granddaughter, Maura Weaver (Christopher) of Altoona; three great-grandchildren: Kylee, Anthony and Melissa; three siblings: James Alexander of Tyrone and Frances Alexander and Faye Williams, both of Altoona; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was a graduate of Altoona High School. She was a homemaker and retired as a dietary aide from Altoona Regional Health System after 20 years of service. She was a member of Hillside Community Church, formerly known as Olivet Baptist Church. She enjoyed hockey and baseball and was a fan of all sports, and she also enjoyed spending time with her family. After retirement, she volunteered at Altoona Regional Health System. Friends will be received from 9 until the 11 a.m. memorial service Friday, April 13, 2012, at Hillside Community Church, 522 N. Sixth Ave., Juniata.
