Howard Earl James

Howard Earl James, 68, Altoona, died Thursday at Altoona Regional. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Frank and Eva Geraldine (Lewis) James. He married Rosalie Whiteman on Nov. 7, 1964, in Lakemont. Surviving are his wife of 47 years; four children: Cammy Brown and husband, Neal, of Littlestown, Autum Huff and husband, Donald, of Bellwood and Howard II and wife, Rebecca, and Ronald and wife, Lisa, all of Altoona; eight grandchildren: Nichole (Brown) Klunk and husband, Ashley, Joshua Wyrwas, Cameron and Sarah Huff, John Davis and wife, Kara, and Cortney, Aaron and Alissa James; three great-grandchildren: Kain, Alhana and Gordan Davis; two brothers: Robert and Donald; two sisters: Charlene Pavloc and Beverly Emig; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, David. Howard was a graduate of Altoona High School. He retired from Conrail as a machinist after 33 years of service. He was a member and officer of the Altoona Rifle and Pistol Club. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, camping and boating. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, who were his greatest joy. Howard was loved very much by many friends and will be sorely missed. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2012, and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, the Rev. John Emig officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park. www.maukandyates.com
